Job Description

Position Purpose

The finance manager role is a strategic business partner to multiple Sleep Number leaders that provides decision support through financial leadership, quantitative modeling, analytical insights, and thought partnership. This position will support enhancing the customer experience and to maximize top and bottom line Company performance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be a strong partner to key sales leaders; prepare and present financial expectations and results to functional teams; teach and help navigate the business using key financial and operational metrics
  • Indirect supervision of forecasting and budgeting processes for multiple areas of the P&L
  • Provide weekly and monthly financial statement analysis and insights
  • Analyze business performance reporting related to top line revenue, profit, and promotional effectiveness
  • Provide decision support and insight to allow and influence leaders to design and implement profitable business strategy decisions
  • Manage store sales goal setting process in partnership with sales leaders
  • Participate in the month-end close process
  • Ad-hoc project work such as business case development, metric analysis, and new initiative support

  • Strong relationships with key stakeholders in Sales, Finance and across the company – be an indispensable partner
  • Forecast accuracy

Position Requirements

Experience, Education & Certifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of progressive financial analysis experience preferably in a retail sales decision support capacity
  • Knowledge of Oracle accounting systems and BI tools (OBIEE, Essbase)
  • Experience with Anaplan software desired
  • Advanced skills in utilizing Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Analytical skills, strong partnering & education skills to support work with non-financial management teams
  • Strong interpersonal effectiveness and demonstrated ability to influence at all levels
  • Advanced financial modeling and analysis skills; forecast model building & experience a plus
  • Experience developing, following and continually improving monthly / quarterly processes / tools
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of profit growth drivers
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to present complex information in a usable format to a diverse audience
  • Ability to navigate a fast paced environment and confidently manage through ambiguity
