Job Description

Global Network Services (GNS) is the network processor and marketing partner for the millions of merchants around the world who accept American Express Cards (both credit and prepaid). The business unit manages and builds new Network features to enable payments across all AXP lines of business globally. Additionally the business unit partners with external issuers to offer non-Centurion products on the Amex network. This position is for an LFO Manager who will lead a variety of critical financial functions in support of multiple areas across GNS Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in project-based business decision support analyses related to new network features and bank partner / other third party negotiations
  • Actively engage with business partners and work across cross-functional teams to analyze, derive, and communicate valuable product and market-related analysis and insights
  • Provide financial insights to help shape key strategies in driving American Express’ Network business growth and profitability throughout the US and Canada
  • Provide for financial planning and forecasting for multiple products and areas of the Business and liaise with central Finance teams on results and key assumptions
  • Work on ad hoc strategic analytic projects and contribute towards initiatives in conjunction with business partners
  • Provide senior management with timely finance-related analysis and recommendations across a range of critical business decisions

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong aptitude for analytics. Demonstrated ability to develop financial models and draw value-add insights from large amounts of financial data. Intellectually curious.
  • Communication: Superior ability to communicate with and influence at all levels of the organization. Ability to break down complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages. Confidence to voice opinions, ask questions, and develop a point of view in meetings with senior executives. Deal negotiation experience preferred.
  • Results Leadership: Highly motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple and complex work streams and work across boundaries and deliver a diverse set of initiatives that result in transformational outcomes. Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive deadlines. Able to work with ambiguity.
  • Strong work ethic with an intense will-to-win and demonstrated personal excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or similar professional degree preferred
