Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Secretary III for the Department of Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School. Under direction of the Manager of Clinic Services, the Secretary III will provide secretarial and general office services to a substance use disorder clinic.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Represents the clinic by screening incoming telephone calls, records and transmits messages, and arranges referrals to other health care providers.
  • Treats all patients and visitors with respect and maintains a friendly and compassionate demeanor even in stressful or volatile interpersonal situations.
  • Ensures clinic staff productivity by maintaining calendars, schedules patient appointments, and maintains the clinic patient databases.
  • Generates revenues by completing direct patient and third-party billing. Monitors accounts receivables.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited program in secretarial studies plus two (2) years of full-time secretarial experience. An additional year of experience will be needed in lieu of the secretarial program.
  • College credits may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for secretarial experience.
  • A maximum of sixty (60) credits or two (2) years may be substituted for two (2) years of secretarial experience.
